Imagine graduating from college and commissioning through the U.S. Air Force ROTC as a brand-new officer, assigned to pilot training at an air force base 1,300 miles from home. Then imagine discovering that in the same squadron, in the same class and in the same flight is someone from your small hometown nestled among the bluffs of the Mississippi River in southwestern Wisconsin.
Then imagine each of you is tracked to fighter-bomber training and ultimately assigned to the fighter jet of your dreams.
The Air Force probably doesn’t keep records on such things, but for second lieutenants Daniel Brom and Eric Kordus, the odds seem unlikely if not impossible. Except it happened to them.
