If you’d like to fly a North American P-51 Mustang, then Stallion 51 has a deal for you. For only $20 per ticket, the Florida-based company is sponsoring a raffle, benefitting Mercy Flight Southeast, that will award the lucky winner a half-day P-51 orientation experience at Kissimmee Gateway Airport plus round-trip airfare to Orlando up to $500.
Mercy Flight Southeast’s network of 650 volunteer pilots provides free air transportation to life-saving medical appointments for people who otherwise not get there. While pilots donate their airplanes, fuel and flight hours to complete more than 3,000 flights each year, the non-profit organization is reliant on donations and fundraising to pay for support services and to keep passengers and pilots in the air.
Stallion 51, a comprehensive aviation organization offering a wide range of services in a variety of historic aircraft, keeps the dream of flying a P-51 alive for those who have the opportunity share the cockpit and take the controls of one of their dual cockpit-dual control Mustangs. The raffle prize will consist of:
- Pre-flight briefing that tailors each flight to the individual’s experience, expertise and expectations; preflight walk around and cockpit orientation;
- Hands-on flight that encourages the individual to do 95 percent of the flying;
- Post-flight briefing reviewing the multi-camera video that captures all of the action during the flight;
- Photo with pilot and aircraft.
The winner will be announced on April 5, 2014, during the annual Sun N Fun International Fly-in and Expo at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in April.
Raffle tickets can be purchased online here or by calling 352-326-0761. Entrants need not be present at the drawing to win. To learn more about Stallion 51, click here.
