Mosquito to Visit New Zealand Museum

The world’s only flying de Haviland Mosquito aircraft will visit the Classic Flyers Aviation Museum in Tauranga, New Zealand, on Wednesday. Weather permitting, the recently restored World War II twin-engine wooden fighter-bomber is expected to be on display until 4:30 p.m.

The public will also have an opportunity to hear from pilot Keith Skilling and to meet the Avspecs Ltd. team that completed the restoration at Ardmore airfield in South Auckland, N.Z., said Classic Flyers trustee David Love.

“This is the first Mosquito aircraft to fly anywhere in the world for more than 20 years,” Love said. “Along with the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster, the Mosquito is on the top tier of iconic aircraft from the Second World War.”
