Boeing B-17 - Suzie Q - Part 2 - Work Trip to Pick Up Plane
OK, Gang, here is the long-awaited Part 2 of now 4, working towards bringing home the B-17, “Suzy Q," from Paris, Texas, to the Weeks Air Museum in Miami, Florida. I can’t believe this was 35 YEARS AGO!
This episode is 55 minutes long and is a great trip down memory lane for me, so I would suggest finding the time to sit down, grab a drink, and Enjoy!
(FYI - We haven’t started on Part 3 or 4 yet, so hang in there!)

Fokker Eindecker - Flights at Wycombe Air Park
OK, Gang, here’s a great flash from the past video we dug out of my "Home Movies” from back in 1987.
This was when I was in England doing some first flights in the DeHavilland Mosquito, and I got to fly a Fokker Eindecker replica!
Expect a Mosquito video at some point, and enjoy!
Enjoy!

Waldo Pepper Standard J-1 - Restoration Update #10 - November 2022 - Assembly & Rigging
OK, Gang, here’s a quick FoF Mechanics Corner update from Ken on the progress of the Standard J-1.
As you know, the original Fantasy of Flight facility was designed as my future dream shop. We just had the floors redone in several back rooms and will slowly be moving into these new areas! Ken has moved the airplane into what will be the future machine shop to complete the rigging process and the making of cables.
Enjoy!

Gerd Muehlbauer Visits the Bf-108 @ FOF
OK, Gang, here’s a fun visit from an old friend I began dealing with back in the mid-1970s when I was building the Weeks Special!
Gerd Muhlbauer sold me the first EVER Hoffman constant-speed propellor to be imported into the United States, which began a long friendly relationship.
Gerd later started MT Propeller and recently visited Fantasy of Flight, where we reminisced about the good old days and checked out a few planes in the process!

BARN FIND! - Vintage Standard J-1 Barnstormer Plane / Arrival at FoF
OK, Gang, here’s a fun unloading clip of an early Xmas present that Ken recently drove back from Minden, Nebraska. As you know, he’s been working on our Waldo Pepper Standard J-1, and it now seems it has a companion! Hope you enjoy this vintage barn find!

I know you've all been waiting patiently, so now . . . here's a new update on the 108 were we talk about the continuing work on with the right wing, the fuselage, and a bit of in depth look at the engine and its components. It’s pretty interesting . . . check it out!

Ford 4-AT Trimotor - Part 2 - NOW! - Project Visits Then & Now
OK, Gang, here’s Part 2 of 2 of my visits to see Maurice Hovious and the Ford 4-AT Trimotor. And while in Part 1 I had the help of a film crew, I was the ONLY film crew on this your-gonna-get-what-you-get-with-a-GoPro visit, I still hope you enjoy it.
Remember, Part 1 was in 2000, and this is 22 years later! As you will notice, I added a bit of silver coloring to my hair (what’s left) to help give me that distinguished “mature look!” Of course, inside I haven’t changed a bit!

Ford 4-AT Trimotor - Part 1 - THEN! - Project Visits Then & Now
OK, Gang, here’s Part 1 of 2 of an amazing video set on my Ford 4-AT Trimotor that Phil(mer) and I put together. I know most of you eat these like popcorn but don’t think you realize how much time and effort goes into making them!
While I'm not currently flying as much, focusing on other projects and waiting for the global dust to settle, we have been going through loads of unused video footage I had from the past. Part 1 here is a visit to check on the restoration progress with Maurice Hovious and his Michigan shop back in 2000, and Part 2 will be a recent follow up visit in 2022.
As most of you know, this airplane was EXTENSIVELY damaged in Hurricane Andrew in 1992, so you might want to grab a box of tissues before you click “play!”

CAC Boomerang Fighter Plane - Restoration Update - Australia- July 2022
Ok gang, here’s an update on my CAC Boomerang restoration going on in Queensland, Australia. Matt Denning of Boomerworks has been doing a great job and making a lot of progress on the project. I asked him to shoot some of the work along the way, and here’s the latest footage he sent. Looking good Matt. Hope you enjoy it.

Boeing B-17 - Suzie Q - Part 1 - Work Trip to Pick Up Plane
OK, Gang, here’s a GREAT flash from the past video we put together from some very old early VHS tapes. In Part 1 of 3 here, we began the process of preparing to fly our Boeing B-17 home from the Flying Tigers Museum in Paris, Texas, which I purchased from Jr. Burchinal back in 1985!
The Weeks Air Museum wasn’t even open yet, and in this video, I was only 32 years old at the time. The airplane hadn’t flown in years, and in Part 1, we arrive to check everything out in anticipation of flying out of the dirt airstrip it was on and over to the public airport on the other side of town. As you will see, we dealt with a few “issues” along the way!
The last two days before we flew the B-17 out of the Flying Tigers Museum on the morning of May 6th, the Moon was FULL! Decades later, a full moon became a sign that “my Friends” were looking down on me!
I have to admit, I’ve had a pretty cool life! Welcome to my World!

Brown B-1 Racer - 1933 Original - Arrival & Assembly @ Fantasy of Flight
OK, Gang, here’s a video we put together of the Fantasy of Flight arrival of our original 1933 Brown B-1 Racer!
I acquired this in 2012, and it’s the only one ever built. It had been used in aviation competitions from the mid 30's to the 40's, mostly piloted by Ralph Bushey, a famous racing pilot of the time.
The plane was damaged in a crash during a race, when the engine fell out. It was put into storage until it could be re-built, in 1947, and flew exhibitions for a couple of years after. It was then put back into storage.
The B-1 passed through a number of owners before I acquired it for my collection at Fantasy of Flight.
