Helicopter Flight Plan Nixed in Michigan

Helicopter Flight Plan Nixed in Michigan

U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Glen Veno wants to share the “different sensory experience” of the Vietnam War-era Huey helicopter this summer.

He’ll get that opportunity, but not in Hamburg Township as he had hoped. And not adjacent to a Vietnam War replica memorial listing his 58,000-plus fellow American soldiers killed in the war. A proposal to fly a utility helicopter, or Bell UH better known as the Huey, into Manly Bennett Park and offer flights nearby the planned Moving Wall war memorial fell apart this week.

The Moving Wall is scheduled to be on display from Aug. 28 through Sept. 1 at West Bennett Park south of M-36 off Merrill Road.
