Gustave Whitehead – new development from John Brown

Budd,

Have you heard?… A few hours ago, the Connecticut Senate passed a bill explicitly withdrawing recognition for history’s first powered flight from the Wright brothers and assigning it to an earlier 1901 flight by Gustave Whitehead. The Bill there and in the Lower House won by such a wide margin, it’s likely to become law soon. At least in Connecticut, aviation history now appears to have been rewritten. I have no information about whether school books will be reprinted in time for the start of Fall classes. Has your article come out yet? If yes, could you send me a copy? Best regards,

John
