Air Force Celebrates Wright Brothers’ Flight

The 109th anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ first powered flight will be celebrated Monday with a wreath laying at the Wright Brothers Memorial at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The event begins at 10:15 a.m. Eastern and is open to the public.

Amanda Wright Lane, great grandniece of the Wright brothers and Colonel Cassie Barlow, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander, will lay the wreath. Lt. Col. Eric Piel, a C-5 and C-17 pilot with the 89th Airlift Squadron, will be the guest speaker.

Park Superintendent Dean Alexander will present a presidential proclamation prior to the ceremony.
