A celebration of 70 years of Canadian Air Force History in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island will take place Saturday as the Comox Armed Forces Day and Air Show takes flight.
“We have planned carefully to welcome thousands of Comox Valley residents and visitors from across British Columbia to 19 Wing, CFB Comox, to provide them with a memorable and fun day,” said Royal Canadian Air Force 19 Wing Commander, Col. Jim Benninger. “People will get to see vintage aircraft like the Spitfire and B-25 Mitchell flying and on the ground, as well as having the chance to get up close to modern planes including the RCAF C-17 Globemaster, CH-149 Cormorant helicopter and CF-18 fighter planes.”
Visitors planning to come to the air show may purchase their tickets online, at Thrifty Foods locations or the CFB Comox Canex before Saturday to avoid long lineups on the day of the show. “Only cash will be accepted at the gate in order to improve efficiency of getting people into the event,” said Maj. Dwayne Kerr, Comox Air Show director. “We encourage people to buy their tickets in advance to avoid the lines and to save $5 on the cost of adult admission, which will go up to $25 on Air Show day.”
