So how do you get a warbird safely from one side of the world to the other? Well, in the case of Jerry Yagen’s recently restored de Havilland Mosquito, known as KA114, it’s being disassembled and placed into a shipping container for it’s trip home to the U.S. New Zealand warbird experts Avspecs Limited rebuilt the twin-engined aircraft, nicknamed the “Wooden Wonder” for its mostly wood construction, last year. Following it’s first post-restoration flight last September, KA114 — a Canadian-built fighter-bomber variant of the Mossy — made several public appearances throughout New Zealand. Check out the video to see how the Avspecs crew carefully prepped the plane before it heads to Yagen’s Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Va.
