This One’s for the Pros

So here’s another gift suggestion, but it’s not for the faint of heart: unusual attitude flight training in an Aero L-39 turbojet! OK, I admit this one truly isn’t for everybody, but if you know a professional pilot who flies high-performance aircraft, you may want to suggest a call to Stallion 51 Corp.

Based in Florida, Stallion 51 offers everything from orientation flights in the legendary P-51 Mustang and historic T-6 Texan to aircraft management, sales and FAA medical certifications. In October, the company began offering its Upset Prevention and Recovery Training Program for pilots who fly for a living and under all types of conditions, according to Lee Lauderback, Stallion 51 president.

As part of Stallion 51, U∀T Co. will train pilots to recognize and respond accurately and quickly before the situation progresses into one from which they may be unable to recover. This type of comprehensive training, with syllabi in both aeromedical and aerodynamics subjects, has not been readily available to civilian pilots until the inception of the program, according to the company.

The U∀T L-39 is outfitted with a state-of-the-art Electronic Flight Instrument System, better known as EFIS, with the design capability to withstand extreme flight attitudes. The EFIS equipment closely simulates current corporate and executive aircraft cockpit layouts. The aircraft also is equipped with specially-designed onboard cameras that allow for accurate visual and audio debriefs of the training from both inside the cockpit and outside the airplane.
