1949 – First flight of the Lockheed EC-121 Warning Star (U.S. Air Force version shown), a U.S. early warning radar surveillance aircraft; it is based on the Lockheed Constellation.
1976 – Death of Jan Nagórski (Ivan Nagurski), Polish engineer and pioneer of aviation; he was the first person to fly an airplane in the Arctic and the first aviator to perform a loop with a flying boat.

2009 – An Indian Air Force Antonov An-32 transport crashes near a village in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh killing 13 defense personnel; among the seven IAF men and six Army personnel aboard are two wing commanders, two squadron leaders and a flight lieutenant.
