There’s something about the industrial F sharp hum of an old fighter plane that pricks the ears. For those who served in World War II, it’s the signal to drop what you’re doing and look to the sky.
This weekend, the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, Idaho, hosts the Warbird Roundup, featuring the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt piloted by WWII fighter ace Capt. Richard Fleischer through more than 200 missions while stationed in West New Guinea, Indonesia. The two-day event features flybys by WWII-era fighter planes, presentations by Fleischer, museum tours and plenty of food.
The Roundup runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days and admission costs $4 for children 12 and younger, $8 for seniors and veterans and $10 for adults.
