English Museum’s Jets Focus of Show

A unique collection of Cold War aircraft belonging to a Westcountry museum in England is to feature on a BBC program documenting jet technology throughout the stand-off.

Film crews have visited Classic Air Force’s new museum in Newquay, which boasts the largest collection of Cold War aircraft outside of America, in preparation for the BBC2 series “Hot Jets,” which is due to be aired next Friday. During the episode, presenter James Holland is given first-hand experience of a 1950s jet when he accompanies the trust’s chief pilot Jon Corley on a flight in one of its two Hunting Percival Jet Provosts.

The program is the first of two focusing on the Cold War, and the aircraft that formed the defense of both sides throughout a knife edge period of world history.
