Col. C. E. “Bud” Anderson survived WW II as a triple ace, but he’ll be first to tell you that his postwar test pilot experiences were far more dangerous than air combat. In this article, he takes you aboard for some test flights that are more than dangerous—they are just plain crazy; for instance, flying a fighter while its wingtip is mechanically joined to a bomber’s wingtip.
