The Champaign Aviation Museum in Urbana, Ohio, has partnered with the Springfield Foundation for the administration and oversight of an endowment to support its operations and collections. One of the main focuses of the museum is the restoration of B-17 Flying Fortress “Champaign Lady.”
“Partnering with the Springfield Foundation for the administration of the museum’s endowment provides us with local professional expertise, which will help ensure the museum’s operations in the future,” said David Shiffer, Board Chairman of the Champaign Aviation Museum.
“We are very pleased that the Champaign Aviation Museum has decided to place their confidence with us to administer their endowment,” said Springfield Foundation Executive Director Ted Vander Roest. “The museum has definitely been a grassroots effort, and it will be very rewarding to work with their volunteers to ensure the future of the museum.
Organized in 2005, the Champaign Aviation Museum is a flying museum and is working on restoring the B-17 and also collects, exhibits and preserves aircraft of all types for viewing by the general public. The Springfield Foundation is a Community Foundation founded in 1948 to improve the quality of life in Clark County and the surrounding area.
The foundation administers more than 330 funds for the community and provides in excess of $2.4 million annually in the form of grants and scholarships.
