1897 – Birth of Erik Thomas, German World War I flying ace.

1967 – First flight of the Dornier Do 31 (shown), a West German experimental VTOL jet transport.

1971 – Death of Alfred Clayburn Atkey, Canadian World War I fighter ace.

1982 – The final flight of Canadair CP-107 Argus 10742 takes place when the marine reconnaissance aircraft is flown to Ottawa/Rockcliffe Airport for delivery to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. National Aviation Museum. The Argus overflies the Canadair plant near Montreal in a final salute.

1991 – Grumman A-6E Intruders of the U.S. Navy sink two Iraqi Navy patrol boats in the northern Persian Gulf. Iraqi antiaircraft artillery shoots down a U. S. Marine Corps McDonnell Douglas AV-8 B Harrier II over southern Kuwait.

2011 – A Peruvian Air Force Zlin Z-242L crashes at Pisco airfield in Peru, killing the two crew.
