Indian Air Force Inducts PC-7 Trainers

The Indian Air Force training academy at Dundigal witnessed the induction of the Pilatus PC-7 MkII, a basic trainer aircraft, on Friday. Union Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh unveiled the turboprop-engined plane at a ceremony.

Led by Group Capt. R.S. Nandedkar, three PC-7 MkII aircraft put up an air display for dignitaries, which included Chief Secretary Andhra Pradesh P.K. Mohanty, Swiss ambassador Linus Van Castelmur and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command Air Marshal Rajinder Singh.

Jitendra Singh flew on one of the aircraft on a sortie. This marked the first formal flight of the trainer aircraft at the academy in Hyderabad. “The induction of PC-7 MkII as basic trainer aircraft into IAF is a very important landmark in our nation’s quest to modernise armed forces,” he said.
