Although the Spad XIII wasn’t known as a dancer, similar to the nimble little Camel, she was, however a tough brawler and was able to deliver the firepower and bring her pilot home. America’s top ace, Eddie Rickenbacker notched up 26 victories in one and the Arizona Balloon Buster, Frank Luke, took his Spad where no man with commonsense would go, knocking down ten balloons and four German aircraft in an eight day rampage.
