Aviation Museums Victim of Fed Shutdown

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, located in Dayton, Ohio, as well as the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., are temporarily closed, effective today, due to the federal government shutdown. All museum events and activities have been suspended until an appropriation bill or continuing resolution is enacted.

Also closed today is the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Fla., and the U.S. Army Aviation Museum at Fort Rucker, Ala. A decision to keep open the U.S. Air Force Academy Visitors Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., which hosts a variety of exhibits, was pending Tuesday morning.
