A380 Makes Surprise Visit to DFW

By Andrea Ahles, Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport had an unusual visitor Thursday.

For the first time, a double-decker Airbus A380 landed at the airport. Lufthansa Flight 440 from Frankfurt, Germany, was diverted because of thunderstorms in Houston. The aircraft parked on DFW’s tarmac on the west side, just south of Terminal D, after arriving at 2:43 p.m. Several plane-spotters came to see the aircraft, the world’s biggest passenger jet.

The plane departed at 5:12 p.m. for its original destination, George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
