Emergency crews and investigators remained at the scene of a plane crash Thursday afternoon near the border of Kaufman and Ellis counties southeast of Dallas, Texas. Video from KTVT’s Chopper 11 showed the limited burned out remains of what was a fixed-wing jet aircraft. CBS 11 News sources have confirmed two people were on the plane.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said, “Both are assumed killed in the accident.”
Hours after the crash officials learned that the plane was a single-engine Aero L-29 Delfin and was previously in military service. “It was an aircraft that had formerly been a military trainer, but has since transferred to private hands and is used for personal aircraft,” Lunsford explained. The plane is now owned by a private company in Dallas.
